RANGE OF EXPERIMENTS TO BE CARRIED OUT:

  • To study all components/Accessories used in Steam Power Plant.
  • To determine Boiler Efficiency at different Steam turbine loads.
  • To determine Equivalent evaporation.
  • To determine Condenser Efficiency.
  • To determine the overall and individual film heat transfer coefficients for a condensation of a vapour on a Surface condenser.
  • To observe & calculate effectiveness of condenser under vacuum.
  • To Determine Turbine Efficiency at different load.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION :

This setup consists of Non IBR Boiler of suitable capacity assembled with steam economizer, condenser and water softener, cooling tower and fuel supply tank. Temperature at different locations is measured by using thermocouple. A pump is provided for circulation of water to the condenser. A steam Turbine is provided with electric generator as loading device. A steam flow rate is measured by using orificemeter . An entire unit if fixed on frame with necessary steam piping.
