Solid Liquid Extraction (Leaching)


DESCRIPTION :

This setup is designed to study the performance characteristics of solvent extraction of particular component from packed bed of solid material . The apparatus allows study of such systems as water / inorganic salts , water /sugar bed , Methylene chloride / vegetable oil etc.The glass column fitted Teflon mesh to support the solid material. The solvent is introduced near the bottom of column and it flow upward counter- currently to solids.

RANGE OF EXPERIMENTS TO BE CARRIED OUT :

  • To study equilibrium flash distillationTo study various systems parameters like , solvent temperature, solvent rate and particle on the % recovery of oil from solid. To determine the volume mass transfer coefficient in solid liquid extraction

EXPERIMENTAL SETUP :

  • Column : Stainless steel column
  • Condenser : Shell and tube condenser SS
  • Solvent Receiver : Stainless steel
  • Heating Mantle : Aluminum body with fiber cloth
  • Piping : SS , PVC
  • Setup Mounting : On sturdy MS stand with powder coated

SERVICE REQUIRED :

Water Supply : @ 6 CFM, at 4 kg/cm2

Power Supply : 230 V, 50 Hz, A.C.
