DESCRIPTION :
Centrifuges are used to separate solids, which form a cake, from liquids. Slurry is fed to a rotating basket having a slotted or perforated wall covered with a filter medium such as Canvas. Pressure resulting from centrifugal action forces the liquor through the filter medium, leaving the solids behind.
The centrifuge is frequently used for drying crystals and for separating emulsions into their constituent liquids. These machines are widely used in sugar refining.

EXPERIMENTAL SETUP :
The type mentioned here is bottom driven batch centrifuge, with the drive motor, basket, and casing all suspended from vertical legs mounted on a base plate. Solids are unloaded by hand through top of the casing or plowed out through openings in the floor of the basket as in top suspended machines.
The drive may be variable- speed electric motor, either direct or through V-belts. Centrifuge machines are also called as hydro extractor.

- Details : The basket is SS-304 construction & dynamically balanced. The monitor cases is of M.S. construction & all contact parts are limed with SS. The basket is driven by 3 Hp Motor , 440 V , 3 Phase.TEFC/Equivalent motor through a clutch arrangement. The unit will be provided with brake pully,starter, wire mesh, Filer cloth & SS lead with handle.
