DESCRIPTION :
The magnetic separation refers to the art of separating one solid from another by means of magnetic field. In magnetic separators, the differences in the magnetic properties of the materials are exploited to effect separation.
RANGE OF EXPERIMENTS TO BE CARRIED OUT :
- To study the Magnetic Separator.
EXPERIMENTAL SETUP :
Magnetic-head pulleys are employed for removal of tramp-iron from the products handled on a belt conveyors. The magnetic pulley is incorporated in a belt conveyor carrying feed material to the plant. The non-magnetic material is discharged from the pulley in a normal manner while the magnetic material adheres to the belt and falls off from the underside where belt loses its contact with pulley . It consists magnetic pulley, belt conveyor, DC motor drive 1 HP feed hopper, trays for collecting material .control panel.
