- To Study the Spouted Bed .
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION :
The apparatus consists of a vessel open at the top & filled with relatively coarse particulate solids. Fluid is injected vertically through a centrally located small opening at the base of the vellum. At a certain fluid injection rate, the high velocity jet causes a stream of particles of rise rapidly in a hollowed center core within the bed of solids. These solids after reaching somewhat above the peripheral bed level rain back into annual region between the hollowed core & the column wall, the where they slowly downward as a loosely packed bed. As the fluid travels upward it flashes out into the annulus. A systematic cyclic pattern of solids movement is established giving rise to a termed the spouted bed. The central core is called a spout & the peripheral annular region is termed the annulus. Spouted beds display characteristics which cannot be realised in conventional fluidised beds.
